Step 1: There’s parking and toilet amenities at Blackwater, there are 2 way-marked trails. Our route takes the scenic route, off the beaten track.
Step 2: Bring all weather shoes, a picnic, binoculars and eagle eyes ready for some nature spotting in the woods. This is a working wood so be sure to follow any Forestry Commission warning signs that forbid access.
Step 3: The first part of this route follows the Ornamental Drive of tall trees. To avoid the sound of the cars, we wandered into the woods.
