Step 1: Off Hampshire Terrace in Portsmouth, there’s a little park called Ravenlin Park. It’s a little escape from student life on campus.
Step 2: This park lies on the foundations of a 17th century fortification. It gets its name from old triangular constructions known as ravelins, part of the Old Portsmouth naval defence systems.
Step 3: There are several paths around this small park. Please note that it’s not dog-friendly, they are banned to protect the park’s biodiversity.
Step 4: Can you find this old tree covered in Lichen? How many colours does it have?
Step 5: This is a monument to celebrate, Thomas Ellis Owen, the architect responsible for many of Portsmouth’s 17th century grand designs.
